Havaianas has joined forces with Disney for a playful new line of flip flops. The Havaianas for Disney sandals feature some of the world’s most beloved cartoon characters.
David Lee, the director of footwear for The Walt Disney Company says his firm was “thrilled” to collaborate with the Brazilian footwear label on the flip flops collection.
“We anticipate these will be a fashion staple for summer 2012 and a must-stock product for retailers’ summer and winter collections,” he added.
Havaianas for Disney infants and children’s flip flops hit stores to coincide with the start of summer, but I’m thrilled to see adult options will join them over fall and winter. These grown-up flip flops feature retro characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the Muppets. A new girls’ line featuring everyone’s favorite fairy Tinkerbell is another new season addition.
Everyone loves Disney, and Havaianas is almost as popular. In fact, the label produces Brazil’s most popular flip flops. They’ve been the sandal of choice for the country’s rich and middle class for the last decade. Cartoon collaborations are nothing new for the brand; it made flip flops with the images of superheroes like Batman and Superman in 2009.
