Despi looks to Moroccan bazaars for inspiration with its Casablanca bikini.
At its heart this is a classic triangle string bikini, nice enough but ultimately overwhelming. It’s saved from the doldrums by the intricate beading at the straps. The tiny earth toned beads create a chunky figure eight underneath the halter-neck tie. I’m not sure the gentle hues are the best match for this Casablanca’s bold blue body, but at least the colors are pretty inoffensive.

That beading really should be the star, so it’s disappointing that the large tabs steal focus. I suppose they serve some structural purpose, but do they have to be so big? In an effort to make its string bikini seem more interesting, Despi might have gone a step too far.
While the Casablanca is fully lined, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t attempt to enhance our figure. The style’s so plain that it at least needs removable cups in the bust. After all, Despi targets smaller women who are likely to look for such a boost. It might work for Kourtney Kardashian, who wore the Casablanca on the cover of OK Magazine, but anyone without surgical enhancements might struggle!
The beaded details are lovely, but you’ll need the right body to make the Casablanca work for you.
