Its racerback cut gives you unrestricted movement through the water, while the built-in shelf support is like wearing a sports bra! The blend of nylon and spandex is also flexible, not to mention comfortable and quick to dry once you emerge from the waves. That makes this tankini ideal for athletic types that take their time on the beach seriously.

Sporty clothes often forget about style, but that's not the case here. The Bibiana is available in five different prints, including my favorite, the hippie ombre amaranth stripe. The full length coverage is also very flattering for girls of all body shapes, and protective to boot. However it's worth noting that this tankini isn't UPF certified, so you may want to slather on the sunscreen just to be sure.

The Bibiana is affordable as tankinis go at $59, which may make you question its quality. You needn't bother though, as Patagonia stands by its product with a lifetime guarantee. That sort of promise is rare in the world of fashion, especially at this price point.

The vivid purple, pink, blue, and white diamond pattern makes a welcome change from the matte tones we typically see on plus-sized swimwear. This print is fun and youthful, and much more flattering than you might expect.

While this tankini attracts attention, it also does its best to flatter large figures. The built in molded-cup bra offers all the support that curvy girls need in the water. The halter neck style gives the bust an extra lift. We've seen this on so many swimsuits for petite girls, but that gravity-defying effect is just as flattering for top heavy lasses. The tankini cut is sexy but it's also modest, covering the tummy and much of the back.

This tankini could be paired with board shorts for extra coverage, but if you're feeling bold why not opt for cute boy leg trunks like the model? She's hardly the stick thin beauty we're used to seeing in swimsuit advertisements, but she still looks fabulous.

Plus-sized outfits rarely come cheaply, but $48 is still quite reasonable for a swim top with so much style and substance.

Just a shade short of a perfect bikini body and want to hide that little bit of excess? The forgiving tankini is always there for you. And this one in dark colors with a subtle allover print will be flattering on most body types.

The Nikita Interesting Tankini is interesting indeed. I love the swirly, sort of sea-like print which is allover the top and present in a sort of waist-band trim on the otherwise solid bottom. I'm sure I can see a face in there somewhere so if a guy is staring at you don't just assume he's checking you out!

While the tankini obviously offers more coverage than your standard bikini, this one is pretty revealing at the bust with string-halter straps and a fairly open neckline. If you're long waisted, you'll probably be showing quite a bit of tummy between the top and the hipster bottoms as well. The bottoms have lots of side coverage but are low slung.

Tankinis are great if you already have a one piece and a bikini but want to add something else to your wardrobe. It's perfectly appropriate for a family cruise but still a little sexy.
