Speedo Shining Star One-Piece Swimsuit

Speedo has always been the go to brand for serious swimmers. With the Shining Star though, the label delivers a swimsuit for girls who just want to have fun.

The Shining Star gets its name from its dynamic star pattern. I like the various greens used on this suit, but it's just one of six possible color combinations. This print livens up what is essentially a fairly basic styled swimsuit. The rear is interesting, with its revealing skinny flyback strap design, but the simple front isn't quite as sexy. It's really made for girls with an athletic body type; anyone with curves will just feel flattened and frumpy. There are many more swimsuits on the market that do make the most of these assets.

Salt water can quickly corrode a swimsuit, but Speedo does its best to help this one survive a few summers. It's crafted from a special blend of nylon and patent Xtra Life Lycra to last longer. Other brands use six-thread stitching, but Speedo chooses nine-thread flatlock stitching for stronger seams and a better fit.

At $72 this is quite an expensive swimsuit, but its superior quality makes it a good investment for regular beachgoers.
