Rock the Vote, PromoJam, Threads for Thought, and Junk Food Clothing are making it even easier to vote in America's upcoming presidential election. The groups have teamed up to create Scan the Vote T-shirts, which bring registering to vote into the 21st century.
Each organic cotton tee features a Quick Response, or QR, code. Capturing it with your Smart Phone enables access to a clever mobile page which features election videos, social media facilities, and a voter registration form.
"Sometimes young people don’t participate because it’s confusing [to register], so we were trying to get over their barriers," explained Rock the Vote's vice president of marketing and communications, Chrissy Faessen. "This was a fashion-forward way and a tech-forward way to show how easy it is."
The Scan the Vote T-shirts made their debut at South by Southwest, and they'll soon hit other leading summer festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits. They'll also be available for sale through Threads for Thought, Junk Food Clothing, and Whole Food stores from next month.
It remains to be seen whether the Scan the Vote T-shirts see more young people casting their vote, but they seem like a great way to raise awareness. Would you rock one on the beach this summer?
