Olukai puts comfort first with its Kumu flip flops.
That's not to say that the Kumus are ugly; they're just a bit ordinary. The pearlesque straps on this particular color combination make them feel a little more dressed up than the other Kumus, but they're still pretty simple. They're inoffensive enough, but I can't imagine anyone will buy them for their looks.
The Kumus really come into their own once you slip them on to your feet. The soft nubuck leather footbed feels heavenly, while the ethylene-vinyl acetate arch adds all important support. The straps are lined with a synthetic pigskin backed with neoprene to ensure they don't rub against your skin. The outer sole is made from gum rubber fitted with unique traction pods that happily grip wet or dry surfaces. The soles also won't mark floors, so you don't need to take them off at the door!
They're hardly going to make anyone jealous but the Kumus are a hard wearing pair of flip flops that feel amazing on. At $119.95 they're significantly more expensive than most flip flops on the market, but you also won't need to replace them quickly either. I've never thought of flip flops as an investment piece, but the Kumus are making me re-evaluate my stance!
