Juicy Couture Clouds Ruffle DressWhen I think Juicy Couture apparel my mind conjures up images of pink velour outfits with plenty of sass. But with this Clouds Cover-Up the American label shows us its softer side.

I must admit, I'm not entirely sold on this sun dress. Its tiered layers remind me a little of a wedding cake, and I can't manage to shake that idea from my mind. Perhaps I'd see a different image if it were being modeled by a real woman, but then I fear it'd look like those dresses my mother used to make me wear when I was a child in the 80s. I'm sure it couldn't look grownup, even if it was paired with some killer strappy sandals and a come hither gaze.

But if you like this style, I suppose it works well as a cover up. It provides plenty of coverage, so it should keep sunburn at bay while you're on the sand and provide enough modesty for lunch at a beachside café. While it's got length on its side it's probably worth noting that it doesn't come with any UPF factor rating. You might want to lather on the sunscreen underneath, just to be sure.

It's very well made though, with complete lining underneath and a supportive band around the chest. The blend of nylon and spandex does call for hand washing though, which might be too much work for some sun lovers.

This Clouds cover-up wasn't my cup of chai in the first place, but its $182 price tag has further turned me off. That's simply too much to pay for something that will spend much of its life crumpled up in a beach bag, don't you think?
