Fendi goes futuristic with these very modern, very chic 5117 sunglasses.

Its model number doesn't give a lot away, but one glance at these Italian designer sunglasses and I'll bet you won't forget them. Fendi sunglasses have a tendency to look a bit samey, but the silver accents in the corner of the frames helps these ones stand out.

Those silver bits are so striking, but look a little closer and you'll realize just how clever they are. That's right; these embellishments aren't abstract shapes, but modern Fs. The letter reminds us that these are authentic Fendi sunglasses without boasting the heritage obnoxiously. Personally I think this is much smarter than large logos or those tired interlocking F prints Fendi is so fond of, although traditionalists may disagree!

The unusual shape of these frames certainly won't suit every face though. Their angled shape will sharpen features, so it can make people with square faces appear too harsh. However it's perfect for girls with softer shapes, including oval and round faces, as it'll add extra definition.

As with most Fendi accessories though, the sky-high price tag is the kicker. At $257.50, you'll need to spend a lot of time in the sun to see value here.

For the girl who has everything, and who likes to tell the world, come these Fendi patent leather flip flops.

A gleaming silver ring proudly, and perhaps obnoxiously, bears the Fendi name. It sits loud front and center, boasting about the flip flops' heritage smugly. Some girls will go mad for that, but it's all a bit obvious for me.

Still, when you're paying almost $400 for a pair of beach shoes you probably want everyone to know why. It's a way of getting some kind of value for your dollar, although I'd suggest it doesn’t go nearly far enough.

Strip away the logo and you've got a fairly disappointing pair of shoes. The skinny straps are made from patent leather, a hard material that's bound to rub against your feet. The soles are made from a combination of leather and rubber. It's a smart mix for the beach, as rubber gives the shoes essential water-resistant properties, but it should come much cheaper than this.

Honestly the only thing I'm really revved by is the color. This bright white leather will look gorgeous against deep tanned legs or summer sundresses when you step away from the shore. Few colors have such a timeless tropical feel, and for this money that timelessness is essential!

I can't see real value here though; I've seen many simple pairs of white flip flops that are far less costly. But they don't bear the Fendi name, and that will make all the different for designer junkies.

Fendi FS 412 Sunglasses | Unisex Metal Buckle Frame Shades

Here at Bikini Buys we've seen many designers playing around with sunglass frames. We've seen frames that are bright red, pure white, and every color in between. Fendi takes things back to basics here by offering sunglasses that at first glance appear to have no frames at all!

It's a clever illusion which is quickly dispelled when you look to the side. This is where Fendi's used a bit of design flair. The arms feature a fun buckle detail, which is discreetly engraved with the Fendi name. I prefer this more subtle design approach to the interlocking Fs Fendi typically uses, although girls who love to wear their brands on their sleeve may disagree.

The thin metal frames are paired with smoky tinted plastic lenses. I'm disappointed that Fendi doesn't offer us any real sun safe credentials, but perhaps it feels that girls wearing its shades are more interested in looking good than keeping the UV rays at bay.

My problem is that at $229, we deserve style and protection. Much cheaper shades have high UPF ratings after all. I'm not saying that Fendi's sunglasses won’t keep your eyes safe, but it's disappointing that the Italian label doesn't offer us any such guarantees.

Protect your eyes without sacrificing your sense of style with these classic black 5065 sunglasses from Fendi.

The oval shaped frames in basic black are timeless, but on their own they risk being a bit boring. The Fendi name in bright, white rings on the arms helps to set the shades apart. They also ensure that everyone knows you're wearing Fendi, which is just what you want when you're paying $245 for the privilege!

Personally I don't think Fendi's done enough to warrant that kind of price tag. The sunglasses will never go out of style, but their plastic frames seem cheap to me. They're not only lacking in luxury; they also won't last as long as a metal pair might.

While the gray tinted lenses will protect your eyes somewhat, I'm also not sure how much. For the price we're paying I'd expect assurances of safety credentials and UVA and UVB protection ratings.

Perhaps the average Fendi fan cares more about the looks than the details, but I won't trust my eyes to just anyone. If I'm going to pay Fendi's prices, I want to make sure that I'm getting sunglasses of substance as well as style. What about you?

When luxury is everything, consider these stylish Havana sunglasses from Fendi.

Fashion forecasters say that brown is the new black, so these chocolate colored frames with their matching brown lenses should be right on trend. I love the subtle cat's eye shape, an elegant change from the square frames we see so often. Tiny tan dots form Fendi's famous interlocking F logos. I'm not generally a fan of logo prints, but this unique rendering and subtle color combination has me changing my tune.

We all know that Fendi can do style like few other fashion houses, but can we trust the brand's safety credentials? The Italian fashion house neglects to tell us anything about the protective qualities of the Havana's lenses, so I'm not sure how much they'll really look after our delicate eyes. I wish the brand was more forthcoming about the somewhat tedious, but very important details like UVA and UVB protection ratings and adherence to industry standards.

Something tells me Fendi fans won't be too concerned though, especially when they see the price. At $94.95 these chic shades are a steal by luxury designer standards.

When only the best will do on the beach, look to sunglasses from Fendi.

These large, rectangular shaped shades are just the kind of sunglasses I can imagine Holly Golightly wearing to shield her eyes from the morning sun as she walked to Tiffany's. There's a real vintage feel to the style, although the subtle carved interlocking Fs remind us of their modern brand. This complementary logo is subtle and understated, just as the sunglasses are.

Thankfully though, the appeal of these sunglasses goes beyond mere aesthetics. They've got a job to do, and they know it. The lenses are made from a smoky gray polycarbonate which protects your peepers from 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. These large lenses don't just look chic; they also protect more of our eye than a more narrow design might. This clever plastic is scratch and impact resistant, so you needn't worry about packing it inside your beach bag with your keys and loose change. If you're nervous about those claims though, you can always give it double protection inside the convenient carrying case.

There's a lot to like here, but is it all worth almost $400? That's a pretty penny for a pair of shades after all. You'll certainly find cheaper sunglasses with all the protective qualities you see here, but they probably won't bear that alluring Fendi name.
