The capsule collections from Trina Turk just keep on coming. Hot on the heels of her Trina Turks and Caicos Collection for the Grace Bay Club Resort comes news of her latest line, a collaborative range designed with American leisurewear leader Banana Republic.

The 60-piece collection includes swimwear separates, beach towels and tote bags, and maxi-dresses and cut-off shorts for the times you're stepping away from the shore. The range's pricing is also more in keeping with Banana Republic's prices than Trina Turk costs. We can expect to pay around $60 for the beach towels while the bikini separates start from $58. Spending $120 on a pickering tote sounds a bit much to me, but I'll reserve judgment until I observe the carry-alls and their quality.

What I've seen of the collection seems like the perfect marriage of Banana Republic's safari style and Trina Turk's breezy Californian cool.

"We decided early on that the Palm Springs 'cocktails by the pool' lifestyle would be our key inspiration for the colors, styles, and prints," Turk explained.

Look for the Trina Turk for Banana Republic line in Banana Republic stores in America, Canada, Italy, France, Japan, Turkey, and South Korea this June. The retailer's online store will also dispense the goodies to customers in some 24 countries at the same time.

The Ditty is a great grab and go handbag, with its user-friendly drawstring pull closure and casual cotton finish. I haven't always appreciated Vera Bradley's homely prints, but this red Deco Daisy pattern is bold enough for the beach. Some of the materials seem a bit dated, particularly the old-fashioned florals, but I suppose that just means there's something to suit all tastes.

At first I wasn't sure how a cotton purse would fare at the beach, but I feel more confident after looking inside. The Ditty is lined with plastic, so it's ideal for storing wet swimsuits and damp beach towels. This lining also contains any soda spills or sunscreen leaks, and it simply wipes clean with a cloth. It might not be very luxurious, but those practical perks are perfect for a working bag.

The only downside is the lack of interior pockets. I wouldn't have expected them at this price point, but I find myself longing for somewhere to store change and a cell phone. I suppose we'll just have to rely on our own ingenuity to stay organized!

At $28 the Ditty is as cheap as it is cheerful. I can imagine it working hard in the off-season as a gym bag or casual carry all. However at this price you won't mind too much if it only makes appearances during summer!

Canvas isn't the most luxurious material, but it makes a lot of sense in a beach bag. The fabric is tough and made to withstand all sorts of conditions, including salty sea air and unexpected summer showers. The brightly colored monogram print helps to liven up the material. Fashion is moving away from such showy logos, but the rainbow hues make these ones seem a bit more appealing.

The interior is simple but spacious, with plenty of room for holding a thick beach towel, a pair of flip flops, and other summer essentials. The open top design makes it easy to access your items, but it also compromises security. You needn't worry about your money though, as there's a zippered change purse clipped inside. This wristlet also bears the Tommy Hilfiger logo, and is easily detachable for trips to the ice-cream parlor or fish and chips shop.

This beach tote is basic but its bonus wristlet adds real value. This little addition makes this Tommy Hilfiger bag's $79 price tag seem very reasonable.

This beach tote's fun novelty looks will appeal to the youngest beach lover. A playful plastic octopus adorns the front of this tough blue beach tote. His wide green eyes are a great match for the short green handles.

There are some lovely features here, including the mesh panels on the base which allow sand and salt water to sift through, and large pockets inside and out. But it's not entirely practical. It's on the small side, so it's more suited for holding a kid's set of sand toys than everything a family needs at the beach. The short handles are also pretty difficult to manage, especially once the tote gets loaded up, which of course doesn't take much.

But this Melissa & Doug beach tote is well made, and a real crowd pleaser. And at a cheap and cheerful $14.99, it's a very affordable way to carry anything you can manage to fit inside it!

This is a very rustic design from Billabong, one which shuns luxurious high fashion material for humble burlap. That back to basics approach may disappoint fashion snobs, but it's actually very smart. This organic material is very tough, so it won't corrode with exposure to salty sea air, sand, or ocean splashes. The leatherette trim and vibrant colored pattern dress the sack fabric up without driving the price sky high.

This beach bag is enormous, so you should have no problems fitting your thick velour towel, flip flops, and the latest issue of your favorite fashion magazine inside. Given its size some organizational pockets would have come in handy, but their absence isn't entirely unexpected in a beach bag. I'm more concerned with the lack of closure. On the plus side, we can over stuff it without worrying about breaking a zip. But it'd be nice to have a place for storing valuables away from prying eyes.

Billabong has skimped on the details here, but for the price I don't mind too much. At $39.99, this Day Tripper bag is an affordable and stylish way to tote your essentials to the shore.

You'll pay as little as $1.99 to own a piece from the collection, and nothing will cost more than $79.99. You'll find the Calypso St. Barth for Target line at Target stores and its website from May 1. They're said to be available through to June 11, but with demand high for Target's designer collaborations I wouldn't expect them to last that long.

Louis Vuitton has reunited with British artist Pippa Cunningham for its summery new Ailleurs collection. The line has almost everything you could need for summer, including beach bags, sandals, swimwear, silk scarves, sequin adorned T-shirts, cotton and silk sundresses, and towels.

Ailleurs is French for "somewhere else," a fitting name considering the picturesque scenes Pippa Cunningham's painted on each one. You might remember her designs adorning Louis Vuitton's 2008 Cruise Collection. I'm not sure what took the label so long to work with her again, but I'm glad it did. Cunningham's art makes a refreshing change from that tired Louis Vuitton's monogram print!

There are three handbags in all: the Escale Cabas, the Cabas Promenade, and the Cabas adventure. The totes feature a dreamy palette and scenes which take us to a Riviera promenade, a tropical jungle, and a picturesque beach. Each artwork has been silk screened onto the canvas to create a watercolor effect.

The Ailleurs silk scarves feature the same vivid prints as the bags, while the key rings are designed with complementary colors to match the other accessories.

I'm not sure how easy the wedge shoes would make walking on the sand, but the cork platforms certainly look the part. Their green and blue hues are also made to flatter the other Ailleurs goodies.

Look for the limited edition Ailleurs collection in Louis Vuitton stores on April 15.

I've never expected fashion forward style from Coolibar, but I always expect its accessories to do the job. Unless you travel light to the beach, this bag isn't going to cut it. You'll be lucky to fit a beach towel inside, let alone a pair of swimmers, change of clothes, flip flops, and some light reading material.

It's tempting when a bag's a bit small to try to overstuff it, but I'd caution against it. Woven straw is summery but notoriously brittle, particularly once it's been exposed to salty sea air. Pushing it past its capacity is only likely to result in torn straw and a busted zip.

The choice of SPF 50+ certified material is also odd. I know that sun smart is Coolibar's schtick, but does anyone really need this in a beach bag? The things stashed inside don't need to fear sunburn after all!

If you can travel light though, this beach bag does deliver more than the average. The secure zip top is a nice touch, and I also like the zippered pocket inside. Too many beach bags are open to the elements, and I'm sure swimmers will appreciate the extra security.

At $19.99, the Sedona is one of the more affordable beach bags on the market, but serious sun lovers will still find it lacking.

The term oversized is an interesting one, as it implies that this tote is larger than is really needed. In truth though, I think this tote is the perfect size for carrying fluffy beach towels, flip flops, and other bulky items. As an everyday tote it'd weigh you down, but as a beach bag its generous size is a real advantage.

While it's not luxurious, there are a few advantages to this tote's canvas body. Firstly it's lightweight, which helps the tote be manageable in spite of its size. It's also tough as nails, so you needn't worry about it being exposed to salty sea air or ocean splashes.

This navy blue material is given a tropical feel with a screen-print style hibiscus print. I love the way this orange flower pops against the dark material, although I could have done with the Tommy Hilfiger branding near it. This is part and parcel of indulging in designer goodies though, so I'll wear it.

The lack of closure may concern anyone planning on long ocean swims, but that's the only real downside I can see. Personally I can live with that lack of security considering this tote's reasonable $69 price tag.
