Carolina Herrara SunglassesCarolina Herrara is treating us to not one, but two new eyewear collections in 2012.

The first sees Herrara reinventing her iconic New York line. There are ten different styles in all, with the cheapest costing $270 and the most expensive topping $340.

If you're hard on your sunglasses, you'll probably feel that even the most affordable New York shades are too expensive. Thankfully Herrara is also releasing a more attainable line through her CH Carolina Herrera label. This one remarkably offers more choice, with 13 sunglasses and 11 pairs of spectacles available. I wouldn't exactly call them cheap, but with prices starting at $170 and topping $200 they're much more reasonable than the signature range.

The New York line is more fashion forward, with bold colors, including the label's signature red and black, striped finishes, and large elliptical and aviator shapes. The CH Carolina Herrera collection takes a more reserved approach with neutral colors like taupe, black, tortoiseshell, and navy blue. Colorful accents help to dress up the fairly sedate shades.

Considering their more classic approach, I think the CH Carolina Herrera sunglasses seem like the best investment. However we don't know much about the materials that see Herrara's New York line costing more. Perhaps we'll just need to wait until they hit stores next year to make our final judgment!
