Blue Q Beach ToteBlue Q takes us back to the swinging sixties with this retro beach bag.

The colorful print on the bag conjures up this bygone era with its vintage images of women staring at seagulls and sunning themselves on the sand. This was before the days of holes in the ozone layer after all!

While it's got a sense of nostalgia about it, the design of this Blue Q tote is entirely modern. While the plight of the environment wasn't high on the agenda in the 60s, this is 2010. So Blue Q makes this bag from 95% post-consumer recycled materials. This vinyl-like material isn't very luxurious, but it's perfect for weathering salty sea air and water. Any marks will simply wipe away from the waterproof material too, so you don't need to worry about spilled sunscreen or soda.

The pictures make it look like quite a slim bag, so I was surprised to hear it's actually 6 inches wide. The material is flexible too, so you should be able to push it beyond that if your towel is particularly fluffy. The dimensions are generous and you needn't worry about making use of all that space as this bag's made to handle carrying more than 40 pounds.

If the bargain price of $11.99 doesn't seal the deal perhaps Blue Q's generosity will. The label gives 1% of the sales of these bags to charities supporting environmental conservation. Such a small donation is a bit of a token gesture, but it's better than many brands!
