South Africa flagSouth Africa's Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was the place for any red-blooded male to be this week, as hundreds of women tried to crack the Largest Ever Bikini Photo Shoot Guinness World Record.

In all 905 women donned their bikinis in Port Elizabeth last Saturday, not a bad number considering inclement weather probably convinced some locals to keep their clothes on. Sadly they fell short of that record of 1923 swimsuit wearing ladies. The Russians will be glad their 2008 title still stands.

But the South Africans did take home two other titles. The women were part of the world's largest bikini and swimwear parades when they walked a distance of more than one mile around the stadium.

Each bikini wearer paid an entry fee of R50 to participate in the event which raised vital funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa. The cause was close to many participants' hearts. Venita Jacobs completed her walk on crutches to honor a young relative.

"My sister-in-law's niece, who is eleven years old, has just been diagnosed with leukaemia," she told the press. "We did the mile for Jade."

Well done to all the women who participated. What's a little rain when you can raise funds for such a worthwhile charity?
