Becca offers a contemporary take on animal print with its On the Prowl bikini.
Its name makes us think of sensuous big cats stalking their prey in the jungle, or perhaps bar hopping cougars with their eyes on cute young things. Pairing this imagery with a traditional animal print would have been simple, but instead Becca takes the path less traveled. The spots that decorate this swim top seem inspired by the animal kingdom, but they’re much softer and more modern. They seem to be painted on with watercolor ink, which allows the pale bikini base to shine through.
The contemporary print is paired with a simple but modern swimsuit style. The bold ring at the center of the swim top gives a bold balance to the gentle spotted print and soft pleating beneath the cups.
I’m always a little nervous when I see swimsuits catering for both small and large sun lovers. Becca could do more to cater for a range of sizes, but the removable cups for the bust are a good start. Petite women can enjoy some extra padding, while curvier women can rely on their own bodies to attract attention.
The On the Prowl will likely work better on smaller girls though. Without any underwire or boning, larger women may struggle with the lack of supportive features. However at an affordable $64, it may still be worth taking a chance on the On the Prowl.
